So I was again so blessed to serve at the annual UK Pastors and Leaders conference in York. Many Calvary Chapel Pastors and their families travelled from all across the UK to relax, hear the Word, be refreshed and refresh and encourage each other. It was just so beautiful seeing them all encourage each other in their ministries and relate to one another's situations. Praise the Lord for the unity there is in the body of Christ. We all have a common bond and that is Jesus. The work wrought on the cross has bound us all together as one body and we can now share this new life in Jesus. Just seeing so many people who have given up everything to serve God here in the UK prompts my heart to go further, to go deeper and to be more aware of the Spirit's leading in my own life.
Lately I have been feeling like a hamster in a little hamster's wheel (thanks Mindy for the illustration). I feel like I keep turning and not really going anywhere. I've been doing the same things over and over again for the past year and I feel like all of a sudden the pressure is on and my wheel is spinning incredibly fast and there's no way out. I'm moving at 100 miles/hour non stop and I'm getting severly overwhelmed. And oftentimes when I feel this way I think that I am the only one feeling this way but then this week I had a gentle reminder that other people are facing struggles too. Some people have been doing the same thing for 10 years, serving the same resistant people for years... but they haven't given up - they're still fighting the good fight and giving all for Jesus.
On the last day of the conference, they had a time of prayer and communion. And although I wasn't able to sit in on any of the teachings because of hospitality and kid's ministry, I was so glad I walked in on the last part of this session as the pastors just began sharing their struggles and being so real. It was heart-wrenching and many were in tears. Tears of brokenness before the Lord. It was so beautiful and I am so glad that I got to be a part of that moment in time. It felt like time stood still. God broke hearts anew, revived passion, restored hearts and I'm sure restored marriages and families.
It was such a blessing being able to serve the families. I love the kids and spending time with them, worshipping with them, playing with them etc just warmed my heart so much. Hearing their prayers is probably always the best bit. Their faith is mind-blowing. They believe God can do anything... and He CAN! Oh that I would walk with a child-like faith and just trust that my God can do all things and nothing is impossible with Him.
So I'm excited to listen to the teachings because I heard they were amazing! When is God's Word never amazing?! So another pastor's conference is over so we started cleaning today. We turned over the flats and prepared one for a group that's coming to stay from Sunday onwards. The work never ends but sometimes the worker's time in a certain work has to come to an end and the Lord leads them onto a new work for continued growth and sanctification. It's okay to move on. Change often means growth.
Speaking of change... I'm starting a new job next week. I will be supporting blind and disabled people in their day to day activities. I know it will be challenging but I am so needing a new challenge right now. So praise the Lord for this new job and pray that I would glorify Him in it and be a blessing to the patients as well as my co-workers.
I am so blessed to be a disciple of Jesus. My heart just wants to serve You God and I pray that You would continue to lead me in Your paths as I continue to seek You.
